RESPONSIBILITES :
Notes and carries out physicians’ and nurses’ orders providing needed assistance in performing endoscopic procedures.
- Gathers equipment for cleaning, sterilization.
- Attends to the cleaning, sterilization and maintenance of endoscopes and related equipment.
- Maintains inventory of supplies for efficient ordering.
- Maintains work area in a neat orderly manner.
- Assists physician during performance of the procedure.
- Provides back-up support for preparing patient prior to the procedure.
- Keeps disinfectant solutions up to date.
- Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
- Communicate relevant information to Nurse Manger, Physician and staff to maintain continuity of care.
- Orients and mentors new staff members.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment required
- Coordinate, anticipate, and plan for cases ahead of time so that necessary instrumentation, equipment, and supplies are available the day of and prior to procedure.
- Maintains and updates preference cards.
- Provides support to team where needed by scrubbing into cases for lunch breaks and busy days where support staff is needed.
- Reviews instrumentation in tray sets regularly and makes adjustments as needed to better support cases as well as sterile processing by standardizing sets and including necessary physician preferences.
- Works closely with Materials Management to ensure proper supplies are ordered and available for cases.
- Coordinates with vendors to ensure instrumentation is available within the necessary time frame and at least 24 hours prior to procedure.
- Works with new surgeons to gather preferences and coordinate necessary instrumentation, equipment, and supplies are available.
