About the position

As the Senior Constructability Specialist, you will play a critical role in leading efforts to ensure electrical designs are practical, efficient, and field-ready across complex or high-impact projects. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in constructability, integrating deep field knowledge with advanced digital tools to drive design optimization, prefabrication strategies, and construction readiness. The Senior Specialist is a connector between VDC, engineering, prefabrication, and operations teams providing leadership, mentoring, and strategic guidance in constructability best practices across the organization, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Has a growth mindset and is always looking to continually learn and grow.
  • Has strong knowledge of building codes as they relate to design.
  • Has strong communication skills and ability to support field electricians.

Day in the life

  • Leads constructability reviews for high-complexity projects, identifying risks and resolving coordination challenges early in the design process.
  • Develops and/or reviews redlines, initial layouts, and field-driven design changes to support coordination and validate assumptions.
  • Influences design decisions through field-driven insights that improve safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Establishes and maintains constructability standards and reviews workflows for consistency across teams.
  • Partners with prefabrication teams to identify opportunities, develop prefab packages, and validate prefab designs for feasibility.
  • Supports scalable prefab strategies across projects and regions, factoring in logistics, installation sequencing, and manpower.
  • Drives the adoption of assembly-driven design and modular construction practices.
  • Provides advanced support for modeling, clash detection, and coordination using tools like Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC, and Revizto.
  • Reviews and enhances coordinated models for constructability, maintainability, and fabrication.
  • Collaborate with VDC teams to implement innovative workflows and automation that improve build accuracy.
  • Serves as the primary constructability liaison across field, project management, engineering, and BIM/VDC groups.
  • Conducts regular site walks to validate designs, resolve field challenges, and ensure model-to-field alignment.
  • Facilitates lessons learned discussions and constructability reviews across multiple projects or regions.
  • Mentors Constructability Specialists and less experienced team members on field-first design thinking, prefab planning, and coordination workflows.
  • Contributes to internal training materials and facilitates knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Continuously evaluates and improves constructability workflows, tools, and standards.
  • Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
  • Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
  • Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or GED required.
  • Minimum 12 years of field experience as an electrician in electrical construction (General Foreman, Superintendent, or equivalent).
  • Advanced proficiency with Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and other construction technologies. Familiarity with Revit a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), building systems, and constructability best practices.
  • Familiarity with prefab detailing, kitting workflows, and modular design approaches.
  • Proven experience influencing design outcomes and leading constructability efforts on large-scale or high-stakes projects.
  • Prior leadership in prefabrication planning, field engineering, or BIM/VDC implementation.
  • Familiarity with Lean Construction, Target Value Design, or IPD delivery methods.
  • Experience contributing to enterprise-level construction innovation or process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of interfacing with executives, field leaders, engineers, and VDC professionals.
  • Experience mentoring others and leading constructability initiatives.
  • Skilled at documentation, issue tracking, and facilitating technical discussions across departments.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and proactive in seeking out areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Skilled at providing constructive feedback and documenting coordination outcomes.

Travel

  • Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Occasional travel to job sites is required as needed, sometimes requiring overnight trips.
