Provides prompt and friendly service to customers and assist them when necessary. Operates cash register, replenishes supplies, and assists with cleaning tables.

Accountable and reports to: District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of HWH, Perishables, Store Operations and eCommerce, Service Managers.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
- Smiling and greeting customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store.
- Making an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible.
- Assisting customers by making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests and performing other tasks in every way possible to enhance the shopping experience.
- Answering the telephone promptly when called upon, and providing friendly, helpful service to customers who call.
- Working with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Operating cash register accurately and scanning product, and reporting improper cash levels in cash drawer.
- Redeeming promotional coupons, receiving cash, checks, completing credit-card charge transactions, in-store charges and figuring discounts, as well as counting back change and issuing receipts.
- Placing merchandise in bags or boxes and giving packages to customers.
- Ensuring adequate supply of silverware, condiments, and beverage cups are on hand for customer use.
- Refilling and maintaining coffee service area supplies including cups, utensils and condiments.
- Understanding and practicing proper sanitation procedures and ensuring the work area is always clean and neat.
- Maintaining strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
- Adhering to company policies and individual store guidelines.
- Reporting to work when scheduled and on time.
Secondary duties and responsibilities include:
- Assisting with bussing tables in Hickory House or Market Grille sit-down areas.
- May assist with running out orders to sit-down area from all food stations.
- Assisting in other areas of store as needed.
- Performing other job related duties and special projects as required.
Knowledge, skills, abilities and worker characteristics include:
- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions; deal with a few concrete variables.
- Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages. Ability to make change.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies verbally or in writing.
Education and experience: No requirements.
Physical requirements include:
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. (Can be accommodated)
- Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), and field of vision.
- Ability to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working conditions include frequent exposure to temperature extremes and dampness. There are possible equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents. This is a fast paced work environment.
Equipment used to perform job includes pallet jack, box cutter, cash registers, trash compactor, calculator, telephone, intercom, cardboard compactor, copier, fax (within wage and hour guidelines).
Has daily contact with customers, co-workers, suppliers/vendors, and the general public.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre employment drug screen.
