Responsibilities

• Work in partnership with the local Operations and Technical Directors to provide guidance on building products and materials, their suitability, and suggest alternatives.
• Implement existing policies and note needed policy updates.
• Collaborate with Project Architects, Project Managers, and the Technical Director to schedule, allocate, and review workload and project schedules for specifications.
• Promote in-house specifications procedures, conduct workshops, and ensure latest standards are included in specification masters.
• Contribute to firm and project goals, providing input on material selection for LEED and Living Design certifications.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of building components, systems, and material requirements across all project types.
• Plan, schedule, and prepare construction specifications and procurement requirements.
• Coordinate specifications with project consultants and ensure compliance with formatting and standards.
• Maintain awareness of industry standards, building codes, and sustainable design practices.
• Assist in the preparation of addenda, responses to submittals, substitution requests, and RFIs.
• Ensure work quality, accuracy, and compliance with Perkins&Will standards.
• Collaborate with peer specification writers and mentor emerging professionals.
• Approach tasks creatively, within scope, schedule, and budget, in an organized manner.
• Communicate effectively and participate in meetings with clients and partners.
