Description :

Unit has 24 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 6 : 1.

Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure (CHF), diabetes, pneumonia (PNA), and chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Registered Nurses will be supported by Tele / Monitor Technicians who monitor patients.

Registered Nurses are required to read telemetry strips.

Charge Nurses and House Supervisors are available for support.

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) are present on the unit, with a ratio of 12 : 1.

Equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen for patients.

Scheduling is managed by the unit manager, and block scheduling cannot be guaranteed.

Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required.

Registered Nurses may float to all medical-surgical units.

Scrub color is navy blue.

Unit-specific orientation is completed prior to the start of the assignment.

Cancellation policy is 4 shifts per 13-week assignment and 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks.

Charting is conducted using the Paragon system.
