Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

Location : Odessa, TX 79761 (West Texas healthcare jobs)

Assignment Type : Travel Nursing, On-Site

Unit : Labor & Delivery (L&D RN)

Start Date : November 9, 2025

End Date : February 8, 2026

Duration : 13-week contract

Shift : Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19 : 00 - 07 : 00)

Hours per Week : 36

Weekend Coverage : Required (6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)

Patient Age Groups : Neonates, Adults

Number of Beds : 17-bed Labor & Delivery unit

Charting System : Cerner (Cerner experience preferred)

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1700 - $1820 per week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state)

Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (2 years preferred)

Previous charge nurse experience required

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring

Experience with Cerner electronic health records preferred

Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions considered)

Ability to provide resume and required documentation by deadline

Travel nursing candidates only (local candidates within 50 miles not accepted)

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a high-acuity setting

Administer medications and monitor maternal and fetal well-being using advanced fetal monitoring

Assist with high-risk deliveries, cesarean sections, and postpartum care

Perform and assist with procedures such as amniocentesis, epidural anesthesia, and cervical cerclage

Support breastfeeding, lactation, and provide patient education to families

Respond to obstetric emergencies, including postpartum hemorrhage and abnormal fetal heart rate patterns

Maintain accurate nursing documentation and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Participate in self-scheduling and ensure weekend shift coverage as required
