Residential Driver (CDL) / Residential Driver-Collector (Non-CDL)

Full Time Residential Driver

The Cullman County Commission's Sanitation Department is hiring a full time residential driver. The employee selected will be responsible for driving a garbage truck on an assigned route. Maintains assigned vehicle and inspects for possible problems. Residential Drivers assist collectors in picking up bags and cans of garbage on assigned route. Reports problems and complaints encountered along the route to supervisor. Other duties as assigned. Pay depends on licensing and experience. Requirements include :

• Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama Class B CDL.
• Must have a driving record that meets standards set by the County's insurance carrier.
• Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public.
• Knowledge of the county and its road system is preferred.
• Must have defensive driving skills and knowledge of traffic regulations.
• Ability to maintain and service assigned equipment.
• Must be familiar with safety standards and practices.
• Must have reading skills to understand operators manuals, directives, procedures, and instructions.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions as needed.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, holidays, and weekends as needed.

This is a "Safety-Sensitive" position. The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and will be subject to random and routine unannounced drug screenings throughout their employment with the County in a "Safety-Sensitive" position.
