Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a compact or ME RN license and strong neuro / trauma ICU skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital setting
  • Level II Trauma Center with 26 ICU beds, some negative pressure rooms
  • Care for medical, surgical, trauma, neuro, ortho, and interventional patients
  • Common cases include ICP monitoring, EVD, spinal precautions, DKA, multisystem trauma, sepsis, ARDS, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, and stroke
  • Patient ratio is typically 1 : 2, with the possibility of a third patient briefly during transitions
  • Uses Cerner EMR system (experience preferred)
  • Shifts are 7P-7A, 12-hour nights, with a weekend rotation every other week (Fri / Sat for nights)
  • No on-call requirements
  • May float to Cardiac Care Unit, stepdown units, or PICU if qualified
  • Responsible for comprehensive ICU care including advanced neuro / trauma interventions and critical care procedures
  • Full support available from 24 / 7 resource nurse, RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and trauma surgery team
  • General hospital orientation provided plus one shift of unit orientation
  • Professional scrubs required in any solid color
  • Flu vaccination is required; only medical exemptions will be reviewed by the facility
  • Free parking available in designated areas
  • Scheduling of holidays will be based on unit need and must be approved by the manager
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Time-off requests must be submitted in advance for managerial approval
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active ME or Compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience
  • Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • PALS certification preferred for possible PICU float
  • Strong neuro and trauma ICU experience including EVD and ICP monitoring is required
  • Experience with ventilator management, critical care drips, drain management, stroke care, hemodynamic lines (A-lines / CVP), cardiac rhythm recognition, and chest tube / tracheostomy care
  • Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
  • Candidates must not have worked permanently at any Northern Light Health hospital
  • Candidates must live 100+ miles South / SW of the hospital to be considered
