Overview
The Vice President and Market Chief Financial Officer at UF Health is a key executive responsible for leading the operational finance strategy and performance across the market’s hospitals and sites of care. This role ensures sound financial management, operational efficiency, and resource optimization to support exceptional patient care, financial sustainability, and strategic growth. Working closely with hospital leadership, clinical departments, and system-wide finance teams, the Market CFO drives performance improvement initiatives, oversees financial operations, and ensures fiscal responsibility across all hospital-based functions within the assigned region. This position will be a key member of the Market leadership team, with a matrix reporting relationship to the Market President.
Responsibilities
- Operational Finance Leadership : Direct all financial activities related to UF Health hospital operations, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services.
- Budgeting and Forecasting : Lead annual operating and capital budgeting processes; oversee forecasting and variance analysis to inform executive decision-making.
- Performance Management : Monitor and improve key financial metrics such as operating margin, labor costs, productivity, supply chain efficiency, and revenue capture.
- Revenue Cycle Oversight : Partner with revenue cycle leaders to optimize charge capture, billing, collections, and reimbursement processes.
- Cost Containment & Efficiency : Drive cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining or enhancing patient care quality and clinical outcomes.
- Financial Reporting : Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for hospital operations, with clear communication of performance to executive and board leadership.
- Capital Planning & Resource Allocation : Evaluate capital investments, return on investment (ROI), and prioritize resource allocation to align with strategic goals.
- Compliance & Internal Controls : Maintain robust financial controls, ensure regulatory compliance, and support audit processes.
- Collaboration : Act as a financial advisor and strategic partner to operational and clinical leaders, helping to translate financial insights into operational improvements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field strongly preferred.8-10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience in hospital or health system operations.Strong background in hospital finance, budgeting, revenue cycle, productivity, and cost containment.Experience in academic medical centers or complex multi-entity health systems highly desired.Seniority Level
