Position Information :

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is hiring for a permanent Trades Generalist to work at the New York State Fairgrounds. As a Trades Generalist you will be responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled level work in one or more related trades as required by the maintenance program. The selected candidate may plan and lay out construction repair and maintenance projects.

The Fairgrounds are located at 581 State Fair Boulevard in Syracuse New York offering a comfortable work environment complete with free parking.

Salary :

The Trades Generalist position is in the CSEA Salary Grade (SG) 12. The starting salary of the CSEA SG-12 is $50425 / year.

The candidate appointed at the Trades Generalist SG-12 level will be eligible to participate in the New York State Performance Evaluation Program. Through this program employees receive yearly performance evaluations. Performance advances are payable to CSEA employees whose base annual salary is below the job rate for their current position and who were rated Satisfactory or its equivalent on their yearly performance evaluation. Performance advance payments are added to an employees annual salary. Over time yearly performance advances may lead to the SG-12 job rate salary of $61548 / year!

The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your direct loans after you have made 120 qualifyingmonthly payments under an accepted repayment plan and while working full-time for the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets or anothereligible employer.

Minimum Qualifications :

Non-competitive : four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training apprenticeship or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school institute or branch of the Armed Services.

When required to operate motor vehicles candidates must possess a valid New York State drivers license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
