Description : Essential Functions
Summons and prepares patient for office visit.
Assists Physician or PA with medical office procedures.
Administers medications, including injections, documents meds given or prescribed by ordering provider as required by specialty.
Adheres to nursing policy and procedure when documenting in patient’s record.
Attends support staff and department meetings to keep informed of employee issues and concerns as well as organizational updates.
Maintains confidentiality of clinic materials.
Provides and reinforces patient instruction and education as indicated.
Accepts responsibility for reading and referencing new policies and procedures.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Must be able to transition between sitting and standing through the scheduled work day.
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about the inside from the nurses’ station to the exam rooms to interact with patients and stock supplies.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a cameras, fax machine, copier and computer printer.
Able administer intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections.
The person in this position frequently communicates with Clinic staff, such as providers, patients, call center representatives, receptionists, Patient Financial Services, Managed Care, specialty pharmacies, etc . Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Must be able to appropriately assist with dermatologic procedures.
Must be able to put away departmental supplies weighing up to 25 pounds and must be able to push / pull a patient sitting in a wheelchair.
Exposure to concentrated liquid nitrogen, blood-borne pathogens, and bio-hazardous materials.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position other than occasional travel to corporate sites regarding employee relations issues.
Requirements :
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 1 year of Medical Assistant work experience within the last 2 years. Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Current BLS certification or to be completed within first 90 days of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience or training in ambulatory health care facility.
