LAUNCH LAB DIRECTOR (Career Readiness & Entrepreneurship)
The New Braunfels Youth Collaborative’s (NBYC) mission is to inspire and uplift the next generation by providing dynamic and inclusive out-of-school time activities and resources to teens.
At the New Braunfels Youth Collaborative, we are building a bridge between school and home through the creation of the Mill Street Youth Center. A safe and supportive space, the Center will welcome all middle school and high school-aged youth in New Braunfels during their out-of-school time (after school, weekends, school holidays, summer).
GENERAL PURPOSE : Reporting to the Executive Director, the Launch Lab Director is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing dynamic afterschool programming for teens in the areas of career exploration, entrepreneurship, and job readiness.
This role is central to preparing youth in grades 6–12 with real-world skills, mentorship, and opportunities that foster confidence, independence, and future success in the workforce. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development, has experience in program creation, and can build strong partnerships with local businesses, entrepreneurs, and educators.
This position will work evenings and weekends dependent on program schedules.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Program Oversight & Leadership
- Design engaging and age-appropriate afterschool programs focused on career exploration, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, soft skills, and workforce readiness.
- Coordinate a year-round calendar of programs, workshops, speaker events, site visits, internships, and project-based learning.
- Integrate opportunities for hands-on learning including mock interviews, resume writing, business pitch sessions, and leadership development.
- Track program participation and evaluate outcomes to inform improvements and demonstrate impact.
- Hire, train, supervise, and support a high-performing team of staff, interns, and volunteers through effective coaching, performance management, and team development.
- Develop and maintain schedules, attendance tracking systems, and program reports.
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all youth participants.
Youth Engagement
Build positive, supportive relationships with teen participants.Identify individual interests, strengths, and goals to help guide youth toward appropriate pathways and opportunities.Foster a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for diverse youth populations.Partnerships & Collaboration
Develop partnerships with local businesses, colleges, trade schools, and entrepreneurs to provide guest speakers, internships, apprenticeships, and mentorships.Collaborate with school counselors, job training providers, and youth-serving organizations to align efforts and maximize impact.Serve as a liaison between youth, families, and the broader community regarding program opportunities.Administration & Reporting
Manage program budget and materials.Maintain attendance, outcomes, and reporting data for grants and organizational use.Contribute to grant proposals and reports related to career and workforce programming.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Business, Public Administration, Youth Development, or related field; AND three years’ experience in youth programming, career services, workforce development, or a related area (supervisory experience preferred); OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications :
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.First Aid and CPR certifications are required and must be obtained within six months of hiring.Required Knowledge of :
Strong understanding of youth development, career pathways, and workforce trends.Knowledge of CTE (Career & Technical Education) models, entrepreneurship education, or industry certification pathways.Experience building partnerships and facilitating community collaborations.Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.Cultural competency and ability to connect with diverse teens and families.Principles and practices of administrative management, fiscal management, supervisory skills and program administration.Local community resources and regional community services programs.Required Skill in :
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with program partners.Supervising staff and effectively delegating responsibilities.Assessing youth / teen needs and developing programs to equip students for success.Collecting data, preparing special reports, and effectively presenting program information and outcomes.Managing expenses and revenues to achieve a targeted goal.Monitoring operations and assuring programs are conducted in a safe and appropriate manner.Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Primarily on-site at youth center.Youth Center will operate primarily afterschool, 4 : 00 – 7 : 00 PM.Active, hands-on role requiring engagement with teens in a dynamic environment.Evenings and weekends required for special events or family outreach.SALARY AND BENEFITS :
Starting pay : $65,000-80,000 (negotiable dependent upon qualifications)
