The Electronic Repair Technician tests, diagnoses, repairs and adjusts electronic and optical equipment to ensure that they are in the optimal working order. The incumbent will diagnose GPS receivers, radios, data collectors, tables, optical devises to include levels, robotic total stations, and other devises. Must be able to disassemble, repair, assemble, and test the same. Must communicate with customers, prepare quotes, document repairs using applicable computer programs to do the same.
The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis : 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal / external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.
Essential Functions :
- Diagnose GPS receivers, data collector, radios, displays, and tablets issues and makes proper repair or component replacements
- Diagnose, repair and calibrate robotic total stations
- Repair, clean and calibrate pipe lasers, conventional total stations and auto levels
- Customer facing, discuss with customers status of products, repair cost, etc.
- Completes paperwork associated with repairs and ordering of parts using laptop and desk computers to do paperwork, study repairs, ordering, etc.
- Load firmware and upgrade firmware on devices
- Troubleshoot and repair electric masts
- Performs system testing with sample / live data and technology
- Utilizes Business Center software to update customer files, check for modeling errors and verify data
- Works with other departments to ensure that customer’s needs are met
- Pulls and prepares inventory in order to complete tasks
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Working knowledge of components, to include, but not limited to; GPS receivers, data collectors, tablets, radios, optical prisms, pipe lasers, total stations, auto levels, sanders, and robotic total stationsWorking technical knowledge of the afore mentioned components with the ability to diagnose, disassemble, repair, reassemble, and test repairsKnowledge of optical test ranges and methodsKnowledge of and ability to use, test benches and break out boxes to test devicesStrong computer skills and the ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, CAD, AGTEC, in addition to various warehouse and accounting programsAbility to disassemble and repair various electronic systems related to machine technology and survey infrastructure products. Must be able to read and understand wiring diagramsStrong electrical system experience.
