Director of Engineering Program Management
(Hardware & Connected Devices)
Location : Houston, TX - Onsite Full Time Role
Salary : $150,000–$175,000 + Annual Bonus
We’re partnering with a leading electronics manufacturer to hire a Director of Program Management to lead end-to-end delivery of next-generation connected hardware products. Reporting to the VP of Engineering and CTO, this leader will own the full product lifecycle—from concept and design through launch and post-market performance. The ideal candidate brings an engineering background (electronics, mechanical, IoT, or firmware) and a proven track record driving complex, cross-functional hardware programs.
Responsibilities :
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver new products through a structured stage-gate / NPI process.
- Build comprehensive project plans, identifying interdependencies and ensuring resource alignment.
- Drive program governance through gate reviews, change control, and risk management.
- Deliver timely updates through weekly status reports and executive presentations.
- Mentor teams on NPI and stage-gate methodologies; drive continuous improvement and best practice adoption.
- Manage and mentor a team of program and project managers, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Partner strategically with senior leadership, supporting long-term technology and business objectives.
- Align cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Sales, Marketing, Field Service, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing for successful launches.
- Serve as a bridge between executive leadership and technical teams to ensure clear, consistent communication.
- Influence decision-making through data-driven insights, negotiation, and consensus building.
- Ensure all products meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required; MBA or PMP preferred.10+ years of program management experience across hardware, firmware, software, and mechanical domains.Proven record leading NPI initiatives using a structured stage-gate process.Strong technical understanding of product development, manufacturing, tooling, and supply chain processes.Exceptional leadership, planning, and stakeholder management skills.Proficiency in Jira, Microsoft Project, Asana, and Microsoft Office Suite (or similar tools).Benefits :
