Director Of Financial Aid & Scholarships (Open)

Salisbury University seeks a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships, a key member of the Enrollment Management leadership team. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director plays a critical role in advancing the University's enrollment and retention goals through the effective stewardship of nearly $100 million in federal, state, institutional, and foundation aid.

This position provides visionary leadership and operational oversight for all aspects of financial aid administration, including compliance with Title IV and Maryland State Aid regulations, strategic packaging and awarding policies, and the development of data-informed financial aid strategies. The Director collaborates closely with senior university leadership, academic colleges, and administrative units to ensure that financial aid resources are leveraged to support access, affordability, and student success that match the institutional goals.

As a senior leader within Enrollment Management, the Director contributes to divisional planning, serves on strategic enrollment committees, and leads a dedicated team of financial aid professionals. The ideal candidate will bring a strong record of leadership in financial aid, a deep understanding of enrollment strategy, and a commitment to equity, compliance, and innovation in student financial support.

This position may require occasional evening and weekend work to support campus outreach programs and emergency response protocols.

This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management. The position has supervisory responsibility for a work unit and manages staff. The position also has budget-making authority and oversees multiple aid budgets totaling nearly $100 million, including institutional aid, federal and state aid programs, and Foundation scholarships.

Required / Minimum Qualifications :

  • A bachelor's degree is required, with a minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience gained through wide exposure to professional experiences and education in a specialized or technical field.
  • The position requires a high level of competence utilizing Excel to manage large amounts of funds.
  • The successful candidate must have outstanding writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a strategic thinking and problem-solving mindset with strong analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • The preferred candidate will also have progressive financial aid office leadership experience, including strategic projection and policy implementation, day-to-day management of a large budget, staff supervision, working with consultants, and completing critical annual reports for financial aid compliance.
  • The position is a full-time, exempt state role with comprehensive benefits.
