Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (New York nursing jobs)

Healthcare Setting : Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Cardiac Stepdown

Assignment Length : 16 weeks (potential extension up to 32 weeks)

Start Date : December 15, 2025

Shift : 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p), 36 hours per week

Weekend / Holiday : Every other weekend; 2 out of 3 major holidays required

Floating : Required to float to appropriate units as part of the Resource Float team

Documentation : EPIC (recent experience required)

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $2100-$2250

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York or proof of application (NY RN jobs)

Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience in Telemetry, Progressive Care, or Cardiac Stepdown nursing

Current certifications : BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS (required prior to start)

EPIC documentation experience within the past 2 years (required for healthcare jobs)

Ability to float to similar units as needed

Reliable transportation (public transportation not accessible in this area)

Professional appearance : navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe nonskid shoes

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with acute cardiac and progressive care needs

Monitor and manage patients with acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, post-cardiac catheterization, and other cardiac conditions

Administer and titrate cardiac drips, insulin drips, and other critical medications

Perform and interpret EKGs, start IVs, and manage post-procedure care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including respiratory and anesthesia support

Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records

Participate in the Resource Float team, providing coverage to appropriate units as needed

Adhere to all unit protocols, safety guidelines, and dress code requirements
