About The Position

We are seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician for a 15-day locum tenens assignment in Illinois starting Jan 1, 2026. This ongoing opportunity offers a flexible schedule of day and night shifts, including both 12- and 24-hour options, with a minimum of 5 shifts per month. The assignment involves single coverage at a 16-bed hospital with an 8-bed emergency room and an annual volume of 7,000 patients.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage emergency department patients (approximately 19 patients per day)
  • Perform required procedures including ventilation management, intubation, and central line placement
  • Handle admissions, discharges, and patient observation
  • Collaborate with specialty backup including hospitalist, surgery, anesthesia, radiology, and pathology teams
  • Provide single coverage for the emergency department

  • Must have an active Illinois medical license
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant emergency room experience in family or internal medicine settings
  • Hospitalist program employed by the same group as the emergency department
