Free rides on all UT Shuttle and Austin CapMetro buses with staff ID card## PurposeThe Technical Writer / Editor III will work autonomously and provide support to numerous engineers, consultants, and draftspersons to ensure the quality of process industry documentation from the draft phase through publication.## Responsibilities
Edit new Practice drafts and data sheets for editorial consistency, correctness, grammar, and format. Includes obtaining PGP / PRP and Globalization Checklist from Function Team Leaders. Edit Practices and data sheets at each stage of development to prepare for the next stage of publication.
Coordinate and manage the process of publication of PIP’s 500 Practices using Document Management System (DMS), to include communication with team leaders, members & non-members, as needed, to maintain publishing progress and provide member support, as well as communication with CAD providers to update CAD work.
Manage Document Management System (DMS) including tracking, filing, and publishing documents from proposal to final publication. Track documents through Member Company Review (MCR) and Steering Team Ballot (STB). Post published Practices to PIP website, DMS, and PIP archive, to include pricing and abstract.
Convert documents to publishing formats, and price and publish documents on the website. Collaborate with webmaster to make website more usable to Members and to correct website errors. Track number of Practices published monthly and quarterly. Send notification of recently published Practices to members and distributors.
Cross-check / review practice, verify posted correctly, check links to ensure working properly, check or date consistency in Member, Subscriber, and public areas.
Attend quarterly team meetings and advise Function Teams in Practice development and PIP procedures and provide support to PIP Function Teams, Committees and Staff by preparing / maintaining meeting records, including attendance, minutes, presentations for use by volunteers from Member Companies. Participate in web and teleconferences for assigned Function Teams and Committees.
Admin / Other : Staff Meetings, Misc. Meetings, Office Travel, Professional Development
Assist with design layout and editing of exhibiting and marketing materials.
Performs other related duties as assigned.## Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, or a related field
Three (3) years of writing, editing, and producing technical documentsRelevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate## Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with technical standards or documentation in the process, engineering, or construction industries
Working knowledge of CAD software or experience coordinating with CAD professionals
Experience in technical editing for globalization or international standards## Driving RequiredThis job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).## Salary Range$65,000+ depending on qualifications## Working Conditions
Usual office environment with occasional travel
