Unit Description : Cardiac and Vascular Care (CVC) is a 16-bed unit designated for cardiac and procedural patients requiring a brief hospitalization. Our Registered Nurses care for a variety of patients including those recovering from surgery, interventional radiology procedures, invasive cardiology procedures; including ST-elevation myocardial infarction, non ST-segment myocardial infarction patients, patients requiring percutaneous coronary interventions, and patients requiring antiarrhythmic medication initiation. The average RN to patient ratio is 1 : 4. The incumbent m ay be required to float on a rotational basis as needed and typically works 2 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule block. Education / Skills Required : Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. BLS or ACLS required with ACLS certification within 6 months of hire. Meets requirements of physical / pre-placement screening. Completion of cardiac rhythm course within three to six months. Completion of stepdown education course within six to twelve months. As applicable, the individual has training / competency in attending to the special needs and / or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
