Overview
The Vermont Department of Health, Morrisville District Office is seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious public health nurse to lead our office immunization, epidemiology, and school programs. Immunization program duties include oversight of the local district office vaccine program, visiting and educating medical provider practices to ensure immunization program goals are met along with provision of technical assistance in quality improvement activities. Epidemiology nursing duties include conducting infectious disease investigations for persons with reportable diseases such as pertussis, salmonella and measles. You will perform individual and public education about infectious disease and immunization, and will report required data / findings to appropriate state entities. School Liaisons at the Department of health work to improve the health and well-being of school-aged children across Lamoille, Caledonia and Orleans Counties. We support supervisory unions, school districts, community organizations, students and their families by helping with high impact strategies that make a difference in health. Working closely with School Nurses, the School Liaison is available for clinical and technical support.
You are joining a team that includes a multi-disciplinary group of public health professionals who all work toward improving the health of our population. Duties are performed under supervision of the Public Health Nurse Supervisor. Vermont RN licensure and Bachelor's Degree required. Nursing experience in a community health setting preferred. Desired skills include quality improvement experience and the ability to utilize computer software systems such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply!

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS : Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Environmental Factors
Duties primarily performed in a standard office setting. Work may be performed in clinic settings and possibly client homes. Exposure to communicable diseases and other stressful situations may occur. Private means of transportation is required. May be required to work evenings, weekends and 12 hour shifts.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in nursing AND two (2) years or more of professional nursing experience.
OR
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
OR
College senior in the final semester of a bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) program. (Graduation from the BSN program must occur prior to hire and continued employment will be contingent on the employee passing the Nursing Licensure Exam (NCLEX).
Possession of, or eligibility for, licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in VermontOR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license.
NOTE : Must maintain Vermont licensure or multi-state license as a Registered Nurse as a condition of employment.
