What We Need :

iHeartMedia has a rare opening for a seasoned anchor / reporter on multiple stations (including WGY-AM) in multiple markets throughout the Northeast. Employee will also perform in-house reporting duties, produce content for national wire service and perform general newsroom assignments. Candidates should have high standards for audio quality, strong on-air presentation skills and the ability to write radio broadcast style copy.

What You'll Do :

  • Anchor newscasts for multiple markets.
  • Write clear, concise news copy.
  • Produce, edit and write content for 24 / 7 Newswire.
  • Gather audio from press conferences, live events and partner TV stations.
  • Produce short-form reports (voicers / wraps) for anchors on the following shift.
  • May be called on to anchor breaking news reports as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned and general newsroom responsibilities.

What You'll Need :

  • Expertise using Microsoft Office suite and social networking platforms.
  • To be knowledgeable and up-to-date on local and national trends and / or to have specialized knowledge of subjects / events related to on-air topics.
  • Pleasant, charismatic and well-controlled voice; excellent pronunciation.
  • Well-rounded communication skills for conducting interviews.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; proficient in grammar.
  • Proficiency in media production and broadcast systems.
  • Ability to plan and organize, set priorities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • 3+ years’ experience in on-air journalism in smaller market or college station.
  • 4-year college degree, preferably in Broadcast Journalism or Communications.
