Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant will manage 18-22 patients for one physician daily, conducting full workups that include gathering previous medical history, performing manual vitals, blood draws, and medication reconciliation. This role requires hands-on experience with both straight needle and butterfly blood draws, and drawing on elderly patients is advantageous as the patient demographic is primarily 55+ with a focus on the underserved population.

Responsibilities

Conduct full patient workups including obtaining previous medical history and manual vitals.

Perform blood draws using both straight needle and butterfly techniques.

Reconcile medications for patients.

Work primarily with a patient demographic of 55+ in underserved communities.

Essential Skills

Phlebotomy and blood draw experience.

Completion of a nationally accredited program in Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic.

Minimum 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, EMT, or Paramedic.

BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent education (GED).

Experience working with geriatric patients.

Experience with EMR systems.

Work Environment

The work schedule is either 7 : 30 AM to 4 : 30 PM or 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM. The Medical Assistant will room 18-22 patients daily, with appointments scheduled at 30-minute intervals. The environment focuses on providing care to the underserved population, predominantly the elderly.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00 / hr.
