Job Summary
The H&S Lead (entry-level H&S role) will follow up on workplace injury and illness incidents including proper care and reporting. Assist with job safety analysis, recommend workplace hazard solutions, and lead the joint health and safety committee meetings. Participate in training and development programs and initiatives to improve plant health & safety performance.
- Hours are Monday - Friday from 8 : 00am - 4 : 00pm
- Candidates must be flexible to coming early at least 1 day, per week for training needs with 3rd shift. Those would be 5 : 00am - 1 : 00pm OR 6 : 00am - 2 : 00pm hours.
- Wage range from $20 - $24 / hr.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct effective job safety analysis and ergonomic assessments to ensure safe work procedures are utilized.Conduct workplace inspections and facilitate appropriate notification and corrective implementation measures.Investigate incidents & respond effectively including communicating / training with supervisors and employees.Review incident report and evidence to determine root cause analysis
Recommend corrective actions and event-oriented safety alerts derived from investigation root cause(s) to Health & Safety Manager and Plant ManagerParticipate and help initiateEmployee care
Return to work programsFacilitate scheduled weekly and monthly joint health safety committee meetings with plant and management the completeness of required inspections, audits and injury reporting and vehicle accidents.Provide feedback to Health & Safety Manager and Plant Manager on workplace safety inspections to ensure completion and address areas of improvement.
Conduct workplace safety assessments / audits to ensure health and safety program complianceReview / update company event reports (vehicle, injury, first aid, near miss, etc.) to company internal performance database(s).Other duties as may be assigned by the Plant Management Team or H&S Department.Qualifications
EducationMinimum Required : High School Diploma or equivalent.
OSHA certification training (training will be provided to obtain certification)Preferred : Associates Degree in Occupational Health & Safety Management or related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of education.ExperienceMinimum Required : 6 to 12 months of Occupational Health & Safety experience.
6 months to 1 year of automotive manufacturing experience.Preferred : 1 to 3 years of Occupational Health & Safety experienceKnowledge of Health & Safety administration in a manufacturing industry.Knowledge of disability management, accident investigation, workplace inspection, hazardous communication, and job safety analysisMinimum Required : Knowledge of the OSHA Federal and State Regulatory RequirementsManufacturing facility experience.Good communication, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking ability.Preferred : Strong analytical skills, problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.Ability to perform well in high pressure situations.Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication skills.Advanced computer skills.Automotive manufacturing health and safety compliance.Familiarity with TS16949 or IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 18001 management systems.Bilingual in French or Spanish is a plus.Working Conditions
