The Plastic Surgery Department at Geisinger has an opening for a BE / BC Plastic Surgeon.
Geisinger is seeking plastic surgeons to join our team in central or northeastern Pennsylvania. Our services include general plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, microsurgical and implant-based breast reconstruction, maxillofacial trauma, cancer / trauma reconstruction, and cleft / craniofacial care. Our integrated plastic surgery residency provides opportunity for teaching, research, and program development. Geisinger has an established reconstructive and cosmetic referral base geared to building a thriving practice. We are supported by an excellent team of physician assistants, nurses, and staff, and we collaborate closely with multiple disciplines throughout the system. For those candidates interested in cleft care, there is an opportunity to lead our accredited cleft program.
Responsibilities / Practice Details
We are looking for highly motivated, exceptional plastic surgeons who love the breadth of plastic surgery and want to be an integral part of this team and continue Geisinger’s tradition of innovation and excellent patient care. The role includes participating in general plastic surgery, cosmetic procedures, reconstructive care, and potential leadership of the cleft program for qualified candidates. The practice is supported by an established referral base and a multidisciplinary team.
Position Details
A plastic surgeon deals with the repair, reconstruction or replacement of physical defects of form or function involving the skin, musculoskeletal system, craniomaxillofacial structures, hands, extremities, breasts and trunk and external genitalia. They use aesthetic surgical principles not only to improve undesirable qualities of normal structures but in all reconstructive procedures as well. A plastic surgeon possesses special knowledge and skill in the design and surgery of grafts, flaps, free-tissue transfer and replantation. Competence in the management of complex wounds, the use of implantable materials and in tumor surgery is required.
