Insurance Verification Representative

Position Summary : We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Insurance Verification Representative to join our team in Baltimore, MD. This role is essential in ensuring accurate insurance verification and supporting the billing and collections process.

Location : Baltimore, MD

Shift : MondayFriday, 8 : 00 AM 5 : 00 PM

Description :

Verify insurance coverage and benefits using available verification tools and direct communication with payers.

Obtain necessary referrals, authorizations, or pre-certifications prior to services, as required by payers.

Collect and confirm patient information to verify unique identifiers for clinical, billing, and collections purposes.

Estimate patient financial responsibility (e.g., deductibles, co-pays, non-covered services) after benefits are determined.

Accurately capture and enter patient demographic, financial, and clinical data into pre-registration and scanning systems.

Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Skills : healthcare, customer service, insurance, prior authorization, EPIC, medical billing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications :

High School Diploma or GED required.

2+ years related experience in a benefits / referral coordinator / insurance verification / authorization job / AR / medical billing in healthcare / hospital setting.

Bilingual ENLISH / SPANISH would be a huge PLUS, but not a must.

IDEAL TO HAVE EPIC as they will be pulling data from EPIC (companies that use it : Hopkins, UMMS, Mercy, UMFPI).

Must be familiar with all payors and payor portals.

Must have STRONG Computer skills.

Experience Level : Intermediate Level.

Pay and Benefits :

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
