The work you will do :

Senior Equipment Operator District Five / Leesburg Maintenance. This position will be responsible for maintaining our state roadway systems. Through cooperation, coordination, and collaboration among the OneFDOT team, you will be contributing to a strong and empowering culture of TRREC : Trust, Relationships, Respect, Empowerment, and Communication.

Your specific responsibilities :

• Operate vehicles and a variety of large equipment to include but not limited to; road graders, sewer cleaner, and hydraulic excavators in bridge and roadway maintenance.
• Perform minor maintenance and servicing work in connection with any type of equipment operated and assist in the repairs of this equipment; check and add fluids, checks / adjusts brakes, maintains proper air pressure in all tires, etc.
• Cleans and washes equipment.
• Coordinates, participates, and directs the maintenance activity of the assigned crew.
• Assists in selecting materials, supplies, equipment, inspecting, planning workloads, work flows, deadlines, work objectives, and time utilization with employees.
• Maintains records of operation.
• Prepares and maintains daily paperwork such as crew activity reports and daily vehicle check lists.
• Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments.
• Performs Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic).
• Performs rough carpentry, masonry, painting and / or assists in the assembly and erection of highway signs.
• Trains crew members in the operation of heavy equipment and of basic Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic).
• Assists with crew activity reports as needed.
