Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of Forterra’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT) responsible for managing Forterra’s finance and accounting operations. As a member of this team, the CFO, provides leadership and subject matter expertise, and actively manages Forterra’s operational infrastructure, resource management and financial strategies to promote our long-term sustainability.

This person is an entrepreneurial, business-savvy leader, with excellent judgment, who has a proven record managing a fast-paced, highly adaptive organization. They confidently plan and manage complex projects under pressing deadlines. They work quickly and
maintain quality control, while thriving in a fluid, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Advise and consult with ELT regarding issues, events, pertinent changes in internal/external markets, threats, and opportunities.

• Manage a team of finance staff including Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Financial Analysis, and Accounts Receivable
  functions.

• Review all organizational financial commitments to ensure due diligence has been met and sign where appropriate.

• Monitor and analyze financial data to provide ELT with timely data, projections and options for corrections and/or opportunities.

• Oversee
  operating policies, and practices to ensure the efficient operation of Forterra.

• Develop and implement systems and practices that ensure compliance with GAAP and Government Auditing accounting and reporting standards including IRS, LTA, and agency specific requirements.

• Serve as key contact for the Finance, Audit & Operations Committee of the Board of Directors, providing leadership in the development and implementation of key financial, investment and risk management policies, and identification, exploration and resolution of high level fiscal decisions and challenges.

• Demonstrate enthusiastic support for Forterra’s mission and vision – creating great communities and conserving great lands.

• Committed to a collaborative work approach; internally across departments and externally across political, geographic, and socio-economic divides.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of executive or senior management experience across a business unit or organization with 50+ employees and $10M+ budget.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field OR combination of education and experience; MBA preferred but not .

• Strong leadership abilities and experience managing staff and consultants, with a proven track record of achieving results through matrixed teams.

• Strong accounting and financial management skills.

• Ability to encourage and guide innovation in a dynamic organization.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Capable of big-picture thinking, able to quickly grasp and understand complex problems and lead teams to solutions.

• Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, creativity, curiosity and a sense of humor.

• Non-profit experience is strongly preferred.

Forterra is based in the greater Seattle area and supports a hybrid work environment. We allow primarily remote work, with some in-person meetings . Candidates must successfully pass a background check, show proof of authorization to work in the United States, and reside in Washington state prior to employment.
