Shift Manager Operations

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for multiple Shift Managers Operations at our East Chicago, Indiana operation. The Shift Manager Operations is a front-line supervisory role responsible for coordinating safety, quality, and production activities on a designated production line. This position ensures operational excellence through leadership, discipline, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Summary of Responsibilities

Supervise and direct hourly employees.

Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Conduct timely safety, quality, and environmental audits.

Uphold and enforce job procedures and maintain crew discipline.

Monitor operations and take corrective action as needed.

Supervise and schedule hourly personnel, both on the shop floor and from the shift manager's office.

Ensure proper training and utilization of direct reports.

Collaborate with maintenance, planning, and scheduling teams to develop work lists for repairs and preventive maintenance.

Make operational decisions under pressure, following corporate policies.

Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, quality, and productivity.

Communicate effectively with upstream / downstream teams and contractors.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from an accredited school.

Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.

At least 2 years of heavy industry, manufacturing, or military experience.

Analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's or bachelor's degree in business, technology, or related discipline.

Experience in a union environment.

Experience in steel manufacturing or a similar industrial setting.
