Position(s) : Lecturer in Chinese Language- Part time

  • Qualifications :

    Minimum requirements are an M.A. or higher in Chinese language pedagogy, teaching Chinese as a foreign language, or a closely related area; applicants holding a Ph.D., or who are ABD (while also holding an M.A.), are encouraged to apply. The candidate should have native fluency in Mandarin Chinese and very good command of English; comprehensive understanding of the linguistic properties of Mandarin Chinese; familiarity with teaching methodologies and technologies; ability to teach all levels of Mandarin Chinese in a team; experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching Mandarin Chinese autonomously at the college level in the U.S. Priority will be given to candidates with experience and success in teaching Chinese language at an American university.

    Duties :

    Duties consists in teaching 7 courses in Chinese language, which may vary slightly from year to year. Duties also consist in undergraduate student advising, service to the Chinese program, and support of UCR undergraduate students and the major in Chinese.

    It is the expectation of the Department of Comparative Literature and Languages that all language lecturers adhere to departmental norms for language instruction as well as to curricular and pedagogical norms in the language program (or programs) in which they teach.

    Winter :

    Chinese 002, "First Year Chinese"

    Chinese 002, "First Year Chinese"

    Chinese 003, "First Year Chinese"
