Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Penn Yan, NY (Zip : 14527) – Finger Lakes region

Healthcare Setting : Acute Care – Medical / Surgical Unit

Assignment Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN)

Start Date : December 1, 2025

End Date : March 14, 2026

Contract Duration : 15 weeks

Hours per Week : 36 (Full Time)

Shift : 12-hour rotating shifts (7a-7p / 7p-7a), including every other weekend and holidays; 2 on-call shifts per 4-week period

Floating : Required as needed to support patient care

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1830 - $1960

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license

Current BLS and ACLS certifications

Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Med / Surg RN in an acute care setting

Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills

Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients and families in the Medical / Surgical unit

Conduct patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress

Monitor cardiac patients, including telemetry monitoring

Educate patients and families on self-care, lifestyle changes, and discharge instructions

Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to set goals and monitor outcomes

Promote patient safety, comfort, and emotional support in a healing environment

Adhere to infection prevention protocols and maintain required nursing competencies

Document all aspects of patient care, education, and family interactions accurately

Float to other hospital units as needed to support overall patient care
