Location: Stockton, California
Schedule: Full-Time

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join a collaborative rehabilitation team. This role is ideal for a skilled assistant passionate about helping frail and elderly patients maximize independence, safety, and quality of life through individualized therapy programs in both clinical and home settings.

Position Summary

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will provide restorative and rehabilitative care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Responsibilities include assisting with assessments, implementing treatment plans, managing scheduling and documentation, and delivering hands-on therapy to support activities of daily living (ADLs). The COTA will also work closely with other rehabilitation team members to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Core Responsibilities

• Administer participant treatment programs as established by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Assist with vital signs, range of motion, and strength testing.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary rehabilitation team members to implement care plans.
• Manage scheduling, clinical visits, and billing activities.
• Track, maintain, and ensure proper use of therapy equipment.
• Deliver and document therapy interventions, including adaptive devices, motor re-education, cognitive and perceptual training, balance, and endurance exercises.
• Promote independence in ADLs through targeted therapy interventions.

Skills & Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
• Foreign-earned degrees must be evaluated as equivalent to a U.S. COTA degree.
• Valid California Occupational Therapy Assistant License (or proof of eligibility).
• Reliable transportation required.
• Minimum 2 years of COTA clinical experience, preferably with frail or elderly populations.
• Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles for patients with complex needs.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
