Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Mortgage Processor II to process conventional and government loan requests in accordance with product, underwriting, investor, and state-specific guidelines. This role supports a high-volume origination environment and requires exceptional communication, organization, and regulatory diligence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain clear, timely communication with borrowers, loan officers, brokers / correspondents, and internal partners to ensure a positive application experience.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external parties to obtain processing documentation (e.g., VOE, IRS transcripts, title search, appraisal, bank statements).
- Identify and escalate irregularities relative to standard mortgage guidelines.
- Monitor and update credit reports, appraisals, income documentation, and verifications to ensure underwriting conditions are met; partner closely with underwriting to resolve issues quickly.
- Perform administrative tasks for the origination function (e.g., commitment letters, title & homeowners insurance review, suspend notices, updating conditions, providing closing attorneys with documentation, completing processing checklists).
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and guidelines; apply a strong analytical lens to evaluate changes required to regulatory documents.
- Follow the clients risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls; escalate risk-related issues as appropriate.
- Promote an inclusive environment that supports diversity and reflects the clients brand.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities
Works closely with internal and external customers including co-workers, borrowers, and loan officers throughout the end-to-end mortgage process.
Education & Experience Required
Associates degree and a minimum of 1 year mortgage industry experience or 2 years equivalent work experience; ORIn lieu of a degree : 3 years equivalent work experience, including at least 1 year in the mortgage industry.(Alternate path) 6 months client-specific mortgage processing experience plus 612 months in customer service, operations, or financial services.Proficiency with PCs and common productivity tools (spreadsheets, word processing, email, PDF software).Education & Experience Preferred
Ability to make sound decisions based on incomplete or evolving information.Knowledge of Product, Investor, and Compliance requirements.Comfort in a fast-paced mortgage environment; adaptability to new policies / procedures to improve workflow.Ability to work independently within time constraints while prioritizing a dynamic workload.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; high attention to detail and organization.Proven teamwork, reliability, and strong work ethic.Core Skill Set
