Security / Maintenance Technician
Department : Facility Operations
Reports To : Facility Operations Manager
Salary : $27.23-$37.99 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
SUMMARY
The Security Officer is responsible for safety, security, maintenance & repair on building equipment and performing grounds maintenance duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Conducts scheduled rounds during shift by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment & checks in with key staff members on a frequent basis.
Obtains help by sounding alarms or using radio.
Provides escorts to staff & patients when requested.
Is responsible for managing difficult situations with challenging patients to insure staff & visitors remain safe.
Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
Maintains environment by monitoring & responding to alarms & could be called upon to adjust building settings.
Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Participates in other meetings and committees as directed.
Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all departmental and organizational policies and procedures and quality improvement practices.
Supports the policies and procedures of the organization and the standards of the Joint Commission as required for full accreditation.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 3 years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills : must be computer literate and have experience with security systems, and Microsoft Office programs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to department managers and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Security Officer training certification preferred
