Summary :

To support the operations of the UNC Health Pardee Compliance and Privacy Programs and its activities including but not limited to compliance and privacy education, investigations, audits, policy development, and consultation and guidance. This position will provide direct support to the UNC Health Pardee Compliance & Privacy Officer.

Responsibilities :

• Investigate compliance and privacy incidents and complaints by performing intake review, conducting interviews, preparing incident summaries and entering incident investigation case facts and supporting documentation into the incident management system. Maintain the Compliance & Privacy Hotline reporting system. Compile routine and ad hoc reports and metrics to be used in support of presentations to compliance committees and other stakeholder groups.
• Conduct electronic medical record user audits on an ongoing basis using a vendor-supported application. Review case alerts and identify questionable access for further investigation. Follow defined process for appropriate follow-up and assist in the documentation and performance of resulting investigations.
• Reviews, revises, and implements HIPAA / Privacy policies and compliance policies. Provides guidance to staff and others on compliance and HIPAA / Privacy policies and procedures. Researches, monitors, and communicates compliance and privacy information to assist the organization in maintaining regulatory compliance. Responds to compliance and HIPAA / Privacy guidance requests from various stakeholders. Collaborates with ISD, Security Office, UNC Privacy Office, Legal, UNC Compliance Office, and other applicable departments to assure compliance.
• Participates in compliance and HIPAA / Privacy strategic planning and risk assessment activities. Assists in the development and completion of the annual Compliance & Privacy Office Work Plan.
• Develops and delivers compliance and HIPAA / Privacy related education and training to the workforce. Responsible for building and maintaining the Compliance and HIPAA / Privacy intranet page to promote awareness of the compliance program.
• Serves as administrative support for the Executive Compliance Committee and other committees as assigned including responsibility for taking minutes, assisting in the preparation of meeting materials, and scheduling meetings.
• Will be assigned other responsibilities as necessary to help in the implementation and maintenance of an effective compliance program.
