Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a VA or compact RN license and strong L&D skillset, including high-acuity cases.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit with 12 beds
  • Patient population includes high-acuity OB cases, substance abuse, language barriers, and chronic conditions affecting pregnancy
  • Responsibilities cover antepartum, intrapartum, cesarean section, postpartum, and magnesium sulfate administration
  • 1 : 1–2 nurse-to-patient ratio typical for the unit
  • Equipment used includes warmers, GE monitors, pulse oximeters, and blood glucose monitors
  • 12-hour night shifts (7PM–7AM) with every other weekend and major holiday required
  • On-call up to 24 hours every 6 weeks
  • May require floating within the New Life Center or to other Labor & Delivery units in Richmond
  • Preferred experience with Epic and Perinatal Centricity (QS) EMRs
  • Care for a diverse patient population with high-acuity and complex OB needs
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team focused on family-centered obstetric care
  • Required to work major holidays and every other weekend as scheduled
  • May need to float between OB units as staffing needs require
  • Testing modules and study guides provided for EKG competency
  • Adheres to a professional practice model focused on safety and quality outcomes

    • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active VA or compact RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certifications required
  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent hospital-based Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Proficient in fetal heart monitoring, OR support, cardiac monitoring, and blood glucose monitoring
  • Preferred ability to scrub or assist with deliveries
  • Preferred experience with Epic and Perinatal Centricity (QS) electronic charting
  • Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility
  • No local travelers within a 50-mile radius will be considered
  • Must pass a pass / fail EKG test on first day, with two attempts allowed
