Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your position is to provide direct nursing care to the patients and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the certified nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines and established facility policies and procedures. Ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times,
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall operation and optimal quality of care for the patients on the assigned unit. Follows all health, sanitary and infection control policies and maintains established standards of practice set forth by the facility's administration and Nursing policies and procedures.
Admit, transfer, and discharge residents, as required.
Complete accident / incident reports, as necessary.
Education
Must possess, at a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or graduate from an approved RN program.
Experience
Minimum 1 year as a licensed nurse (LPN or RN) in a skilled nursing facility strongly preferred. On-the-job training provided.
Specific Requirements
Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in Massachusetts.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served.
Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel, and the general public.
Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
Must be able to relay information concerning a patient's condition.
Must possess basic computer knowledge.
