Supervisory Nursing Position
Responsible for the supervision and administrative decision making for the care and coordination of nursing and patient care services during the evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Responsibilities include :
- Providing assistance, direction, consultation, and problem solving regarding patient care issues and business continuity.
- Facilitating the coordination of activities between the patient care units and other hospital departments.
- Anticipating potential problem situations and intervening proactively to mitigate adverse impact.
- Coordinating allocation of human resources, identifying and setting priorities for administration of patient care, and directing and assigning employees during periods of increasing and decreasing acuity.
- Utilizing, documenting, and maintaining analytic tools with corresponding staffing standards. Tracking all human resource allocations daily.
- Conducting rounds through the organization to promote functioning of hospital operations, including bed utilization.
- Coordinating allocation of material resources.
- Serving as an arbitrator for conflicts that arise on assigned shift. Facilitating short-term management of conflict and communicating to the appropriate departmental leadership for additional follow-up.
- Providing initial investigation and documentation of problems or potential problems that may lead to high risk situations. Performing immediate employee disciplinary actions, up to and including suspension.
- Serving as DH spokesperson to handle requests for information to police, press, and others.
- Receiving initial patient / family complaints and providing resolution.
- Communicating problems that may compromise patient care to the appropriate departmental leadership.
- Directing, coordinating, and triaging all bed activities and assignments.
- Providing onsite management / leadership in crisis situations to prevent or minimize disruption of services. Responding to emergency codes to coordinate activities. Functioning as on-site coordinator for disasters or events.
- Identifying and participating in threat evaluation and implementation of the Incident Command System.
- Assuming responsibility and accountability for the development and 24 / 7 daily management of system changes to maximize patient flow and optimize bed capacity.
- Performing other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications :
Bachelor of Nursing with 5 years of clinical experience required.Master's Degree preferred.Prior management experience required.Excellent written, verbal and computer skills required.Demonstrated abilities with problem solving, leadership, communication, fiscal responsibility and teamwork.Ability to work effectively in groups of employees and with patients and patient families is essential.Ability to multitask and make critical decisions in highly stressful situations.Required Licensure / Certifications :
Licensed Registered Nurse with NH eligibility.BLS certification required.Area of Interest : Nursing
Pay Range : $105,040.00 / Yr. - $147,680.00 / Yr. (Based on 40 hours per week, otherwise pro rata)
FTE / Hours per pay period : 1.00 - 1.00 - 40 hrs / week
Shift : Rotating
