Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Hermitage, TN 37076 (Greater Nashville area)

Healthcare Setting : Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Medical-Surgical (Med / Surg)

Assignment Length : 13-week travel nursing contract

Start Date : November 17, 2025

End Date : February 16, 2026

Shift : 7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM (12-hour night shifts)

Hours per Week : 36

Shifts per Week : 3 shifts per week (each shift is 12 hours)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1440-$1550

Scheduling : Self-scheduling; every other weekend required

Dress Code : Black scrubs

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Tennessee or compact state)

BLS and ACLS certifications required

At least 1 year of recent Med / Surg or PCU nursing experience

Strong critical thinking skills and ability to interpret EKG rhythms

Proficient with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips

Peripheral IV skills required; peritoneal dialysis experience preferred

Experience with bipaps, high flow oxygen, and multiple oxygen delivery systems

Preferred : Experience with stroke care and post-cardiac cath care

Comfortable with tube feedings and NG / Dobhoff tubes

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality patient care in a 25- or 34-bed PCU / Med-Surg unit

Manage night shift patient ratios of 1 : 5 to 1 : 6

Administer and monitor cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips

Assist with peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, and central line dressing changes

Troubleshoot wound vacs and provide wound care

Document all patient care activities using Meditech EMR

Engage in hourly rounding and maintain patient communication boards

Float between PCU and Med / Surg units as needed

Collaborate with healthcare techs and unit secretaries to ensure comprehensive clinical support
