- Summary of Job Duties and Essential Functions :
As a CVT, your role will be diverse and essential to our hospital's daily operations. . Responsibilities include :
Assisting with exams, treatments, and diagnostic proceduresPerforming venipuncture, catheter placements, and laboratory testingAdministering medications, vaccines, and other treatmentsTaking digital radiographs and dental x-raysEducating clients on preventive care, medications, and home careMaintaining accurate medical records and ensuring patient comfortMonitoring anesthesia, including induction, maintenance, and recoveryMaintaining surgical instruments and equipmentAssisting veterinarians during soft tissue and orthopedic surgeriesProviding post-operative care and client discharge instructionsEnsuring accurate documentation of treatments and proceduresQualificationsJob Requirements :
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)credentialMinimum1-2 years of surgical experiencepreferredProficiency inanesthesia monitoringandsurgical asepsisCalm under pressure, with excellent communication and critical thinking skillsCommitment toAAHA standardsand patient-centered careRequires sufficient ambulatory skills to perform duties while at hospital.A positive, team-oriented mindsetComfort with multi-tasking in a busy, supportive environmentWorking Conditions
Must be available to work 1-2 weekends per month and work well in a team environmentHave the physical strength and ability to stand for an entire shift when needed, and be able to lift, push and pull, pets and objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Assist in lifting patients weighing more than 50 pounds.Associate is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication / controlled substances.have physical mobility and dexterity to frequently stand, walk bend, push, twist, kneel, climb, squat, stoop, and reach overheadConsiderable mental / visual concentration, coordinating manual dexterity with mental / visual attention, requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.Must wear closed-toe shoes, gloves, and other protective items as required.A consistent presence at work is required.We offer competitive pay, benefits, 401k, employee pet care discounts, and a continuing education program to name a few.
