Position Overview

We’re seeking a visionary and strategic Executive Director to lead The Center for Trauma and Resilience (CTR) into its next chapter of growth and impact. This is a chance to shape the future of our organization and make a profound impact on the counties and people we serve. As our Executive Director, you will inspire and guide a talented leadership team, work closely with an engaged Board of Directors, and champion our mission with creativity and passion.

Your innovative leadership and problem-solving skills will drive our mission forward, and build essential relationships with partners and supporters. Your financial acumen will ensure our continued success and stability.

The Executive Director (ED) of CTR is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic vision, fiscal health, and operational management of the organization. The ED ensures CTR continues to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed services while fostering partnerships, securing sustainable funding, and advancing the organization's mission of healing through empowerment, resilience, and justice.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Guide and implement the strategic direction of CTR in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain and deepen CTR’s commitment to trauma-informed, culturally competent practices.
  • Lead the development and execution of new initiatives and programming in response to community needs.

Organizational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and contractual standards.
  • Supervise senior leadership, build internal team capacity, and promote a supportive and equitable workplace culture.
  • Implement and refine systems for efficiency and impact.
  • Maintain up-to-date policies, HR practices, and systems that promote staff well-being.
  • Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage the organization’s annual budget in collaboration with the Finance Committee.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of funds and meet all financial reporting requirements.
  • Drive fundraising efforts and comply with grant stipulations.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, foundations, and government agencies.
  • Program Oversight

  • Ensure program quality, evaluation, and impact measurement across CTR services.
  • Support the integration of clinical, community, and prevention services.
  • Prioritize client voice, equity, and access throughout program delivery.
  • External Relations & Advocacy

  • Serve as the public face of CTR and represent the organization in advocacy efforts, coalitions, and community partnerships.
  • Deepen relationships with donors, stakeholders, elected officials, and peer organizations.
  • Promote CTR’s visibility through media, events, and campaigns.
  • Represent CTR with passion and professionalism in public forums and councils.
  • What You Bring

    Leadership Experience

  • Proven track record in executive or senior leadership roles, with strong experience in nonprofit or business management, strategic planning, and team development.
  • Minimum of 5 years of nonprofit leadership preferred, ideally within mental health, social justice, or trauma-serving organizations.
  • Skilled in managing multidisciplinary, racially and culturally diverse teams, and fostering an inclusive, equity-driven organizational culture.
  • Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors.
  • Subject Matter Expertise

  • Deep understanding of trauma-informed care , healing-centered engagement , and culturally responsive practices .
  • Familiarity with mental health systems, public health frameworks, and policies affecting underserved communities.
  • Financial Leadership

  • Adept at aligning financial planning with organizational goals through effective budgeting, fundraising strategy, grant management , and fiscal oversight .
  • Proven experience with both government and private funding streams, including fundraising campaigns and institutional giving.
  • Strategic Mindset

  • Ability to approach complex challenges with a big-picture perspective and design innovative, mission-aligned solutions.
  • Skilled in using data-informed decision-making to evaluate impact, guide programs, and ensure accountability.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building trust with staff, funders, and community stakeholders.
  • Experience in building partnerships and coalitions to advance equity and mental health outcomes.

  • Education and Licensure

  • LCSW required ; must hold active and unrestricted licensure in good standing
  • (Eligibility for reciprocity in Colorado is acceptable for out-of-state candidates.)
  • Master’s degree required , ideally in Social Work (MSW); degrees in Public Health, Psychology, Nonprofit Management, or a related field will also be considered
  • Licensed psychologists or psychiatrists eligible to supervise LCSWs will also be considered

  • Compensation Range : $95k - $110k
