The City of Columbia, Missouri is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Administrative Technician II to support the Prosecutor’s Office within the Law Department. This position provides advanced administrative and financial support, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in daily operations that serve our community and legal system.
About the Position
The Administrative Technician II performs a variety of complex administrative tasks, including maintaining records, preparing reports, monitoring budgets, coordinating meetings, and supporting departmental projects. This role requires excellent organization, discretion, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and the public.
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional customer service in person, over the phone, and in writing.
Prepare, process, and maintain administrative, fiscal, and legal documents.
Monitor departmental budgets, track expenses, and maintain financial records.
Assist with contract and grant management as assigned.
Organize, schedule, and document meetings, travel, and training sessions.
Guide and train staff on administrative procedures and software systems.
Create and maintain records in accordance with laws and city policies.
Assist with compliance monitoring, public records requests, and reporting.
Coordinate office operations and ensure adherence to city procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental needs.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Three to five years of experience in administrative support, customer service, or fiscal administration.
Knowledge of office procedures, records management, and financial tracking.
Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office and web-based systems.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation required.
Preferred qualifications include experience in a legal or government office setting and knowledge of grant or contract administration processes.
Work Environment
Primarily office-based, with standard weekday hours and minimal physical demands.
Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds and exposure to emotionally charged situations.
