Wayfair Global Safety and Security (GLOSS) is a multifunctional team that prioritizes mitigating risk by protecting our assets, gathering intelligence and data, driving collaborative process improvements, and continuously evolving our culture through an inclusive approach to safety and security operations.

The Head of our Operational Safety Program will be responsible for providing leadership on all life safety and related operational standards, systems and processes, while driving safety initiatives across the supply chain network, retail and office environments. Reporting to the Global Head of Safety and Security, you will be responsible for developing and implementing complex safety programs that bring our leaders options, recommendations and best practices as a subject matter expert in safety.

You will be the principal point of contact for the global safety program development and will work closely within the Global Safety and Security enterprise, legal compliance and workers' compensation teams. You will have ultimate responsibility for promoting safe process path adherence within all Wayfair sites in order to prevent personal injury and property losses resulting from accidents and incidents.

What You'll Do

Drive continuous improvement in Wayfair safety policy and behavioral standards with a focus on performance, sustainability and compliance.

Develop and implement company-wide safety and health strategies, analyze trends and design and implement new safety programs through continuous improvement cycles.

Lead a cross-functional team to ensure safety programs are integrated into daily operations with metrics to quantify effectiveness.

Develop and manage departmental financial plans and annual budget.

Partner for continued development of the safety investigative process for accidents, injuries and near misses. Provide risk assessment and mitigation recommendations. Develop corrective action plans.

Understand regulations governing health and safety. Ensure global operations are conducted in accordance and are within compliance of applicable regulatory agencies and standards.

Lead the organizations medical monitoring program (e.g., drug and alcohol testing)

Develop content and provide oversight on compliance audits

What You'll Need

10+ years of relevant experience including five years leading a safety and health function (preferably within retail stores, fulfillments centers, home delivery operations etc.)

Travel as needed, 25-50%

OSHA Certifications (Occupational Safety Specialist, Safety and Health, and Risk Management are preferred)

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred

Experience with global safety laws, protocols and requirements in multiple global site locations, and operating environments including retail stores, fulfillment centers, final mile operations etc.

Executive level experience with critical incident investigations, root cause analysis and action plan development with leading indicators to support operational KPIs.

Demonstrated strategic level written and oral communication experience with clearly defined action plan requirements, risk mitigation, and accountability for business impacts.

Strong leadership, critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving skills

Strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and professionalism, including an ability to maintain confidentiality.
