Responsibilities Position is in a fast-paced Post Surgical Care Unit (PSCU) in a hospital setting Provides care for pre and post-surgical adult and geriatric patients Unit has 40 beds with nurse to patient ratios of 1 : 4 or 5 on days / PM and 1 : 5–7 on nights Average unit occupancy is 90-95% during the week with typical length of stay of 2–3 days Typical patient admissions are 10-15 per day, with the highest volume on Day / PM shifts Uses Epic EMR, Rovers for medication scanning, and Alaris infusion pumps Schedule includes 12-hour rotating day / night shifts (7a–7p / 7p–7a) Requires work every other weekend and holiday Floating is required to all inpatient units with appropriate patient assignments No on-call or call-back responsibilities Care for surgical and post-PACU recovery adult and geriatric patients along the continuum Strong team environment with emphasis on collaboration and prioritization of care Scrub color is flexible; any color is acceptable Orientation hours may not be guaranteed; holiday closures apply to unit schedule Low census may result in up to 36 hours on-call during a 13-week contract Unit averages high admission rates requiring adaptability and strong clinical skills First time travelers are not eligible for this position Requirements Active WI or compact RN license required Current BLS certification required Minimum of 2 years Med / Surg experience required Recent hospital experience required Trauma Level II experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Epic EMR proficiency required Must be able to multi-task and prioritize care based on acuity Contractors must live outside a 50 mile radius from the facility for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-629262.
