Macdonald & Company has been exclusively retained by a leading multifamily developer and investor in Texas to appoint a Director of Asset Management to its growing Houston team.
The Opportunity
This firm has established itself as one of the region’s most active and successful vertically integrated platforms, with a track record of delivering high-quality Class-A multifamily communities across major Texas metro areas including Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston.
In Houston, the group has already delivered several well-located projects and continues to expand with a robust pipeline of new developments. The incoming Asset Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial and operational performance of the Houston portfolio while contributing to the company’s continued growth across Texas.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary relationship manager for third-party property management firms
- Review, analyze, and direct rental rates with property management input based on performance and competitive positioning
- Oversee and analyze financial performance, working with property management to optimize controllable expenses
- Conduct regular property visits to evaluate product quality and on-site operations
- Present asset strategies and performance updates to joint-venture partners, lenders, and internal leadership
- Support dispositions and refinancing efforts in collaboration with the development team
- Monitor compliance with loan covenants and joint venture agreements
- Produce weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting on asset performance
- Coordinate with internal accounting and property management to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Assist with cash flow management and forecasting
- Collaborate with property management on annual budgets and business plans
- Manage relationships with property tax consultants and oversee associated protests
- Establish and implement standard operating procedures to enhance portfolio performance, with the potential for broader adoption across the state
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of asset management experience within multifamily real estateStrong financial modeling skillsHigh analytical ability with keen attention to detailProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Yardi, RealPage, PowerPoint, and WordStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational ability, with the capacity to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines under pressureAbility to operate independently with minimal supervisionSeniority level : Mid-Senior level
