Job description

Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoast Maine. CMH's hospital facilities include Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. CMH also supports Central Maine Medical Group, a primary and specialty care practice organization. Other system services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, LifeFlight of Maine's southern Maine base, the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center and other high-quality clinical services.\n\nCentral Maine Healthcare is looking for a Temporary Registered Nurse to join their team on the Inpatient Rehab unit !\n\nThis position is full time, 36 hours with Day shifts available, on a temporary basis for 13 weeks with the potential of one 13-week extension for a total of 26 weeks. This temporary role pays $60 per hour.\n\nFor more information on how our temporary roles work, please reach out to brittany.circharo@cmhc.org\n\nIf you are passionate about making a difference and are looking for your next great career opportunity, we look forward to reviewing your application!\n\nResponsibilities\n\nPosition Summary : \n\nThe RN is responsible for managing individualized direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient\n\npopulations by promoting and restoring patients' health through the nursing process; collaborating with\n\nphysicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing exceptional patient experience by supporting and\n\neducating the patient and family throughout their hospitalization; functions as the patient advocate while\n\nactively following a plan of care responding to changes in condition and / or response to treatments.\n\nEssential Duties\n

  • Obtains nursing history, performs nursing assessment and develops plan of care for patients.\n
  • Demonstrates ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per\n\npolicy. This includes adult, geriatric and the general patient population.\n
  • Demonstrates a time conscious awareness and ability to prioritize during high acuity situations.\n
  • Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's\n\nage.\n
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient\n\nand their clinical condition.\n
  • Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.\n
  • Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical\n\nand manual skills.\n
  • Demonstrates the ability to start peripheral IV's.\n
  • Demonstrates the ability to care for post-surgical patients.\n
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.\n
  • Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious / spiritual needs of patients and their\n\nfamilies.\n
  • Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.\n
  • Interacts professionally with patient / family and provides appropriate care and information based on\n\npatient status.\n
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills\n\nnecessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served.\n
  • Able to interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs\n\nand provide care needed by the patient group.\n
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the\n\nlikelihood of medical / health care errors.\n
  • Participation in performance improvement and CQI activities.\n
  • Consults other health team members / departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary\n\napproach to the patient's needs.\n
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to Director, Nurse Leader, Team Leader, Nursing Supervisor,\n\nco-workers and providers.\n
  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.\n
  • Documentation meets current standards and policies.\n
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.\n
  • Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.\n
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.\n
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance\n\nwith hospital standards.\n
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current\n\nliterature, in-service meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice and\n\nongoing education.\n
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.\n\nQualifications\n\nEducation and Experience : \n\nMed / Surg / Rehab\n
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.\n
  • Current Registered Nurse License, in the state of Maine, BSN preferred.\n
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.\n\nCritical Care / ED\n
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.\n
  • Current Registered Nurse License, in the state of Maine, BSN preferred.\n
  • Current ACLS and BLS (PALS desired)\n
  • TNCC desired\n\nPreferred\n
  • One year of nursing experience\n
  • Bilingual\n\nKnowledge, Skills And Abilities\n
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and triage in a highly fluid dynamic operational environment.\n
  • Ability to collaborate with all layers of the management / administration team.\n
