POSITION STANDARDS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in Sterile Processing
• Certification Preferred though not required- certification supported by department
• Environmental Hazards
• Microbiology and Infection Control

• Knowledge of sterilization and decontamination process
• Ability to prioritize and handle numerous tasks at one time
• Selection and use of packaging systems prior to sterilization

PART TWO : FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

Position Objective

The Central Sterile Technician will be responsible for the medical / surgical supplies and equipment, both sterile and nonsterile, and for their cleaning, preparation, processing, storage, and delivery for patient care. The head CSR tech will maintain certification in the field of Central Sterile and will be responsible for directing the day to day operation of the department. Techs working under the direction of the head CSR tech will be encouraged to seek certification in their specialty.
