Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) position in an acute care setting, requiring a ND or compact RN license and strong fetal monitoring skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an acute care hospital LDRP unit with 7 labor and delivery beds and 8 postpartum beds
  • Patient population includes obstetric and neonate cases, with a focus on pregnancies over 36 weeks, hypertension, and gestational diabetes
  • Assignment includes days with call, every other weekend, and every other holiday requirements
  • 12-hour shifts with 0645-1915 and 1845-0715 options; block scheduling available, self-scheduling not offered
  • Floating required to MedSurg or ER as needed, with permanent staff typically first to float
  • On-unit OR suite for C-sections and average of 58 births per month
  • Titrate drips such as pitocin, insulin, and magnesium
  • Uses Meditech EMR and Traceview / PIP electronic fetal monitoring system
  • Philips telemetry monitors used for fetal monitoring
  • Provide comprehensive care through labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum, including titration and interpretation of fetal strips
  • RNs work with a team including a charge nurse, CNAs, and surgical techs
  • Three shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
  • Maroon scrubs are provided and must be changed into upon arrival on the unit
  • Obstetric and neonatology coverage and anesthesia are not in-house 24 / 7
  • Holiday coverage and every other weekend are required
  • Additional requests for time off beyond initial submission will not be approved
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum of 2 years Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Current certifications required : BLS and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
  • Ability to read and interpret fetal strips independently
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Must have critical thinking skills and experience titrating IV drips
  • References required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and a peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
  • Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Candidates may not have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the last 12 months
