The Forestry Crew Leader is the lead member of a three-person crew made up of a crew leader, Tree Trimmer II and Tree Trimmer I and / or Equipment Operator which prunes, removes and stump grinds public trees. The Forestry Crew Leader reports to the Forestry Supervisor, maintains all required paperwork, and enters daily work performed in a log book. Arboricultural skills, customer service skills, organizational skills, and safety practices are applied to complete assigned tasks, communicate with customers, complete required paperwork, and lead the crew to safely and efficiently complete daily workload.
Department starting hiring salary : $46,589.
Essential functions include but are not limited to :
High school diploma required. Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational or technical nature. An associate's degree, or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school preferred. Three years experience in professional tree care required. Three years of supervisory experience preferred or any combination of education beyond high school and experience.
Preferred licenses and / or certifications :
Work location : 2839 Dana Street, Norfolk, VA 23509. Work hours : Tuesday Friday, 6 : 30 AM 5 : 00 PM. Work hours may change seasonally, additional on-call schedule. Signing bonus : This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus for applications received on or after February 22, 2022. The signing bonus will be paid in two (2) increments : $2,500 upon completion of 60 days of employment, and $2,500 upon completion of your probationary period. To receive the signing bonus, you must be an active employee in good standing.
