American Traveler is seeking a Med / Surg RN with at least 2 years of recent experience and Epic proficiency for a night shift contract in North Carolina.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Medical Surgical unit within a hospital settingPatient population includes orthopedic trauma, traumatic brain injury, spine injuries, neurological trauma, subdural hematoma, and pain managementTypical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6-7Shift is 12-hour nights (18 : 45 – 07 : 15), with 36 or 48 hours per week options acceptedMust float to similar units and alternate care locations, including inpatient holding, as requiredWeekend coverage required every other weekendStorm Team and Hurricane Team duties required during catastrophic events or disastersUnit uses Pyxis, Epic EMR, and SBAR communicationFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyMaximum of 7 days RTO allowed (none during first week or on holidays), and all RTO must be approved shortly after bookingMust work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contractRequires completion of 12-hour unit orientation and 16-hour organizational educationTravel pairs permitted if assigned to different unitsFatigue policy restricts working more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per weekCandidates may be consolidated to a centralized office or reassigned within the hospital or nearby affiliates as neededNavy scrubs are requiredLocals accepted at a different pay rate based on permanent address\n \n Requirements\n
Active NC or compact RN license required in hand at time of start (pending for submission allowed)Minimum 2 years of relevant Med / Surg experience in the past 5 yearsBLS certification requiredEpic EMR documentation experience requiredMust be comfortable with heparin drips, PCA, blood product administration, care of central and peripheral lines, colostomy, feeding tube, PICC line management, wound care, management of dysrhythmias, oxygen protocol, non-invasive airway management, isolation / PPE, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, surgical drains, chest tubes, tracheostomy management, oral suctioning, and IV startsMust pass EKG testing prior to start\n Benefits\n
