Chief Hotel Engineer
As Chief Hotel Engineer at the Kellogg Conference Center / Gallaudet University, you will maintain responsibility and authority in physical property, including : planning, implementing, coordinating and managing all mechanical operations, maintenance, repair, design, specification, and modification. You will oversee department budget controls and provide coaching, teaching and formal supervision to individual employees. You will plan and monitor appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Will prepare and deliver performance appraisal for staff and mentor / coach team members to further develop competencies.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manages capital budget, as needed and projects. Prepares and executes department budget in conjunction with General Manager
- Liaise with GU on all building systems including fire / life safety, plumbing, HVAC and electrical issues.
- Maintains on-going communication with clients, management team and vendors.
- Performs human resource functions for staff, including supervision, training, and evaluating.
- Manages contractor / vendor work in conjunction with University Facilities.
- Analyzes utility consumption including moving to more energy efficient facility.
- Develops safety policies, procedures, and programs for the property.
- Ensures that all buildings / equipment are in good working order and are consistent with quality standards of the property.
- Establishes and maintains a preventative maintenance program.
- Knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, etc. system.
- Knowledge of OSHA and General Safety.
- Coordinates maintenance efforts with outside contractors.
- Negotiates contracts for property operations when needed.
- Compiles and prepares reports for upper management's review and use.
- Daily walk through all areas and talks to managers in Front Desk, Kitchen, Banquets, Finance, Sales, Etc.
- Responsible for reviewing, clarifying, and administering all safety related policies and procedures for a specific division of Flik. Recommends substantial safety enhancements and implements accordingly for division (major area). Responsible for accidents, injuries, and worker's compensation insurance for that area.
Preferred Qualifications :
Minimum formal education of a higher education institution or applicable certifications and five years Supervisor and job related experience.Work may require evening, night, holiday, or weekend assignments on occasion.Valid Driver's License required.Schedule varies according to business demands and needs.Benefits :
